Description
JOE HARRIOTT alto saxophone
John Mayer’s INDO-JAZZ FUSIONS
FHR are excited to announce the release for the first time two tracks performed by renowned saxophonist Joe Harriott and John Mayer’s Indo-Jazz Fusions. The two recordings have never been previously published in any format including any previously issued Indo-Jazz albums. Although short, these are very interesting recordings.
A one-off LP was produced after these recordings were taped and it has been in the hands of the John Mayer estate since. FHR remastered these recording using this unique LP.
There was no information on the LP but we think these recordings were recorded just prior to the recording of John Mayer’s 1969 Indo-Jazz album “Etudes”. This lack information means we can’t be sure who is performing on the tracks but it is likely it is the same line-up as featured on the “Etudes” album (see below). However, it is interesting to note that Joe Harriott is playing saxophone on these recordings and not Tony Coe, who played on the original “Etudes” album.
