Press Quotes

‘As a demonstration of Philip Moore’s expressive range as a composer, this could hardly be bettered. Andrew Lucas shapes the performances expertly and the recording can be enjoyed at one sitting. The results reflect great credit on all concerned.’ (British Music Society)

‘His music displays an unerring architectural sense of space and time. The ‘Jubilate Deo’ of 2001 makes a splendid opener… The full-bodied blend of St Albans Cathedral Choir is enhanced by the incisive bite of the Sinfonia Verdi Brass Ensemble… ‘All wisdom cometh from the Lord’ is quite magical. Andrew Lucas brings out the best of the piece’s rhythmical catchiness and William Houghton offers a committed baritone solo… Tom Winpenny clearly revels in ‘Dialogues’… With the composer involved as co-producer this can be taken as being a definitive recording. A highly enjoyable and fulfilling release’ (Gramophone)

‘Splendid sound and a tiny celebration of one the finest choral composers on the cathedral circuit’ (BBC Radio 3 ‘Record Review’)

‘An important aspect of this album, contributing to its very 20th-century soundworld, is the Harrison & Harrison organ’ (**** Choir & Organ)
